Maximizing Ternium's Infrastructure with a Swift and Effective Cloud Migration Powered by Microsoft
Ternium is a Latin American steel producer of flat and long products, belonging to Techint group. With the aim of migrating to the cloud, they approached Pi Consulting to undertake this project by applying Microsoft technologies. Ultimately, over 4,000 reports were migrated from an on-premises environment to the cloud, generating a migration tool that could be applied to multiple clients and achieving a fast migration, which was key to the success of this project. This also laid the groundwork for another company in their group (Tenaris) to pave the way for its migration to the cloud.

The Scale: Potential of the Solution
The project has enormous scalability potential as there is currently no tool for massive migration between on-premises and cloud environments. The tool developed for Ternium is a migration tool that could be applied to multiple clients. In fact, this project represents the first steps towards an even bigger migration within the Tenaris company.
Benefits and Business Impact
The main benefit that quickly emerged was the speed and availability of reports. The performance observed in viewing reports received very positive feedback from the client, surpassing their expectations. Additionally, the development was well-received as Power BI Desktop for the cloud has advanced features that are highly valued by the Ternium team.
An extensive survey was also conducted to ensure not only success, but also to identify areas or points that could be affected. To achieve this, information was provided, and training was given on what the migration would entail and the benefits of using Power BI in the cloud.
The cloud also allowed them to scale, giving them flexibility to work on new initiatives. Additionally, having better usability increases product adoption, leading to greater use of the platform.
